INSP Advent Calendar: day 12

#INSPadvent continues! Each day in December, we have messages from different street paper vendors. Come back every day to open a window in our celebratory advent calendar.

Donate to back INSP’s work supporting street papers and their vendors here.

Robert Mašič, 41

Robert is from. Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. He sells Kralji ulice in the towns of Vrhnika, Kamnik, Grosuplje, Domžale, not very far from Ljubljana.

Robert hasn’t experienced sleeping rough, because he’s still living with his “extra patient” mother, who just threatens him with the possibility of being kicked out from the apartment, because he uses different illegal substances. He was obviously born under the lucky star. He has been selling Kralji ulice since 6 February 2014.

His moto is: no matter what – never give up!

What is the best Christmas present you’ve ever received?

I remember well last Christmas when I received 50€ for my written contribution to our street paper Kralji ulice, for my stories about what happened to me during the selling of paper.

From my childhood I still have a memory of different electric toys (cars, trains) that my dad brought me from Iraq. He’s been working there for about six years. I’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone how meaningless the war is over there.

How do you plan to spend Christmas this year?

I hope I will be able to rent an apartment for me at the end of this month and spend my Christmas there in peace, independent. I plan to go out as well, because I like to socialize.

Do you have a special Christmas message for your customers?

I wish all the best to all of them!

Vsem želim samo najbolje!

What is a traditional Christmas greeting in your language?

Lep božič in srečno novo leto!
